OVERVIEW
FME, in partnership with Jons Civil Engineering, completed the Portrane, Donabate, Rush, and Lusk WWTS project for Uisce Éireann / Irish Water, which involved upgrading the wastewater treatment facilities and collection network in the Fingal area. The contract specifically addressed the elements in the Rush area, including the construction of three new pumping stations, decommissioning two existing pumping stations, and the installation of new rising mains and gravity sewers.
SCOPE OF WORKS
FME provided a comprehensive service throughout the project, including full design involvement, site investigations, and risk assessments, as well as conducting HAZOP meetings, creating a control philosophy, and developing a Functional Design Specification (FDS). The scope also included the installation of the pumping stations and all associated equipment, followed by extensive testing and training to operatives.

- 3 No. Foul Pumping Stations:
- South Shore: Duty/standby Xylem Submersible Pumps (85 l/s @ 20.4m)
- North Beach: Duty/standby Xylem Submersible Pumps (85 l/s @ 16.4m)
- East Shore: Duty/standby Xylem Submersible Pumps (45 l/s @ 13.1m)
- Pumping Station Equipment:
- Isolation and check valves (250mm & 200mm Dia)
- Magflow Flow Meters
- Ultrasonic & backup float level measurement systems
- Wash water kiosk with hose reel
- Portable 1-tonne lifting davit arm
- MCC equipment connected to telemetry
- Standby Generators (55kVA – 165 kVA)
- Wall-mounted 24V, 110V & 400V power sockets
- 600mm Wide Wall Mounted Inlet Penstock
- Mono Discreen 1000mm 3 Shaft Overflow Screen
Testing and Commissioning:
- Full testing of all equipment
- Production of RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements)
- Implementation of testing programmes
- Training for operatives
- Initial 12-month operation of the stations, including monthly reporting and emergency response.
