OVERVIEW

The Holywood Sewers Scheme was a significant project aimed at alleviating complaints of sewage odour around Holywood, Co. Down. This project involved a major programme of sewer laying, tunnelling, and the construction of a pumping station, measuring 10 meters in diameter and 12 meters in depth. The new pumping station was designed with two compartments: one for storm water and one for foul water, with the capacity to deliver flows of 220 l/s for storm water and 860 l/s for foul water. This solution addresses the issues faced by local residents while ensuring the efficient handling of wastewater.
